Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 Writer Explains Decision to Show 240 Characters
Fans are waiting for a grandiose cartoon, but there will be no confusion with the characters.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 writer and producer Christopher Miller explained the decision to include 240 characters in the story.

At CinemaCon 2022, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 writers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord announced that the sequel will have as many as 240 heroes. Based on Marvel comics, a description of the first 15 minutes of the long-awaited cartoon “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2” has appeared on the Web. The introduction confirmed the appearance of several important characters in the sequel.

As they recalled, there are 40 characters in the original cartoon. As a result, many Marvel fans may have worried that the cartoon would be messy and confusing. However, Miller promised that all the characters would harmoniously fit into the story.

Miller shared new details about Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 on his Twitter. The author wrote that most of the characters would be secondary and background. There are far fewer key characters. According to Miller, the story will still be quite personal and emotional – despite the epic scale:

“I am clarifying. While jumping through the universe, there will be 240 unique characters to be designed and modeled, but mostly secondary or background characters. The scale is large, but the story is personal, focusing on Miles and his family, as well as Gwen and a few other characters.
