How Josh Allen, defense led the Bills to Thursday Night Football win over Bucs: Live updates
Following Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills came into Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers knowing an answer was necessary. With a gauntlet of six playoff contenders out of seven upcoming games, heading into that stretch without a winning record would put them in a difficult position.
The Bills came out with what head coach Sean McDermott called an "attitude" right from the start of the game.
"I think it was just a bitter taste in our mouth from last week," center Mitch Morse said. "I think more than anything, we just lacked energy. It's the chicken or the egg deal, like, what feeds energy? Does energy lead to execution, or does execution lead to energy? We decided to come out with energy and see what happened, and it really worked out in our favor."
That approach helped yield a 24-18 victory — a game in which the Bills controlled for most stages, though they did allow the Buccaneers to hang around for too long. Regardless, the Bills collected the win and now head into the weekend off at 5-3.
What stands out most from the Bills' victory? Just as it did last week, the offense's response to their previous outings was a huge piece of the puzzle, in addition a defensive shift and a notable healthy scratch and what it could mean moving forward.
