Post Malone Brings Seattle Back To Life

Publish date: 2024-07-16

On November 5th, the Grammy-award nominated rapper, Post Malone brought his Twelve Carat Tour to Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle and the sold-out show was explosive.

Supporting the tour was Roddy Ricch, who entered the show from the center of the stage as pyrotechnics followed. Ricch opened the show with “Rockstar,” a DaBaby song he features on.

In the midst of the 2020 quarantine, Ricch made his way into the popular rap scene, with multiple of his songs going viral on social media. The rapper is a household name of his own, as displayed by his tens of millions of monthly listeners on Spotify.

Ricch performed drenched in colorful spotlights and clouds of smoke, as fans sang along without skipping a beat. I quickly observed that this could have been Roddy Ricch’s own headlining show as fans seemed just as excited to see him as they did the main act.

“Make some noise for post Malone. that’s my day one. Real solid dude” Ricch spoke into the microphone, to which the crowd obliged and filled the arena with screams. Ricch stepped off the stage after performing “Ballin‘”- Leaving fans to wait anxiously for Post Malone.

After much anticipation, Post Malone came onto the stage wearing a white Pearl Jam shirt, paying homage to the Seattle-based rock legends in their hometown. Malone immediately jumped into the setlist as firework flares were set off behind him. One notable feature about Malone, as a performer, is how he does not stay still for even a moment. The rapper is constantly bouncing around, bending down to interact with fans, or switching between the 7 different catwalks.

“My name is Austin Richard Post. I came to play some sh**ty songs and get a little fu**ed up while we do it… Took time to recognize the 3 year break from touring in Seattle… Thank you for melting my fear,” the rapper vulnerably explained. It was clear how he adores his fans as much as they adore him, as he constantly said “I love you’s” and “thank you’s.”

Underneath the glaring lights, Malone put his full heart and energy into every part of the concert, making sure that the crowd would leave the show with a night to remember. Fans of all Post Malone eras were catered to during the show as the setlist was supplemented with Twelve Carat Toothache, as well as older albums.

“I wrote this song about having your heart broken and I know I’m not the only one who felt this way but I heard it’s quite therapeutic to sing it out at the top of your lungs,” Malone said as he transitioned into “I Fall Apart.”

Eventually, Malone brought Ricch back out for the two to perform their song, “Cooped Up,” as fans warmly welcomed the opener back to the stage and took out phones to capture the moment. Another notable part worth documenting was when Malone smashed his acoustic guitar during “Rockstar,” one of his most popular songs that he sings originally with 21 Savage.

With being this far into his career, Malone seems entirely comfortable on stage and never held back on dancing loosely as fans shouted in joy. Post Malone isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and Seattle is already waiting in anticipation for his next return.
