Srbuk’s real name is Srbuhi Sargsyan. She was born in Yerevan, Armenia and studied at the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan where she learned to play the qanun. In 2010 she auditioned for the first season of the Armenian version of X-Factor, where she made it to the live shows and placed second. After X-Factor, she formed a band named Allusion and went on to perform at local concerts and gigs – the group gained a strong following.
She’s been building her solo career ever since, starting off by featuring on Garik Papoyan’s 2014 single “Boat”, which led to her releasing her solo debut track “Yete Karogh Es” in 2016. She continued to build up her career and in 2018 auditioned for season eight of The Voice Of Ukraine, where she joined Potap’s team. Seven months after the show ended, she was internally selected to represent Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, becoming the first announced act. A month later, she dropped a new song titled “Half A Goddess”. She later became one of the last acts to reveal her Eurovision song, back in March 2019, which is titled “Walking Out”.
