Benedict Cumberbatch is a posh wolf spy in Penguins of Madagscar: amazing?
Sigh. This is just a fun post, so I’ve got my fingers crossed that the comments don’t descend into madness, Cumberbitch-on-Cumberbitch hate and insider-ish stalking. A while back, it was announced that Benedict Cumberbatch had signed on to do some voice work with The Penguins of Madagascar, a sequel/spin-off to the wildly successful Madagascar films. The film focuses on the hilarious exploits of already-familiar penguins Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private. The four penguins get recruited by a spy ring/covert op called the North Wind. Guess who’s the leader of the North Wind? A suave wolf named Classified. Classified has a posh, rich voice and YES my Benedict is a WOLF.
Apparently, the other members of the North Wind are voiced by Ken Jeong, Annet Mahendru, and Peter Stormare. Benedict gave a quote to promote this trailer drop: “I don’t know what it’s like to be a penguin, but I do know what it’s like to be a super-super-smooth classified agent.” Ha! God, he’s such a dork. But I love him. I love that he gets so much voice work too – he was the announcer for the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, he does voice work for Jaguar, he does narration for various documentaries. It’s awesome. He should insure his vocal chords.
